"Ugh, what does it even matter?" Nayuta asks in response to Todoroki's reasonable question. She rests her elbows on the table and her forehead on her forearms. "Some stupid devil ate the concept and I'm like the only one who knows, okay? It's not like the knowledge even helped me until now."
A beat, then a muttered, "Still sounds pretty cool."
She doesn't respond to Todoroki's offer at first, instead sitting in silence. Finally she lifts her head up enough to rest her chin on her forearms and look sullenly up at the older boy. "Why do you even care? You already have a friend from your world. Why don't you just leave me alone and mind your stupid business? That's what everyone does eventually anyway."
Nayuta doesn't really know why she's being like this. But none of her problems are here for her to get control of, and Todoroki is, so this is what he gets.
